No explanation for 4Shared being blocked

4Shared has been blocked in the UK for at least the last two weeks, and I cannot find an explanation anywhere. I have tried sending them emails, but I receive no replies. I assume that their reputation for copyright piracy has caught up with them and the authorities in the UK have instructed ISPs to block the site, just as they have done with the Pirate Bay. I pay a subscription for the premium service which provides direct download links for my software projects. Luckily I decided to renew my Premium subscription after the site was blocked.
