Does anyone have any updates on Messaging for the Getting Out app in South Dakota. I know inmates are allowed to call now, but nothing about messaging. It's been over six weeks without being able to contact my friend and no one has anything to tell me about when or if messaging is coming back. Please could anyone tell me something so I'm not going crazy.

shotty app

for the past three days i have been experiencing the phone cutting in and out, from my man not being able to dial out and more. from what i was told the app was created so that the inmates can have some sort of wat to contact friends family and loved ones without issue or delay. but its always something. like for example I can be on the phone and be in the middle of a conversation with my man and suddenly it will cut out, then there are the days the app isnt working at all. others they are working just fine. but my point is to say the app is very shotty and its not likely to work all the time. all we as the loved ones and users of the app ask is that the issues and bugs be worked out because we dont get to enjoy our phone calls and more because the app is poorly made

Anyone’s LO in Sioux fall prison heard from their LO via telephone. I know there was issues at the prison and not sure if everyone is on lock down or just some. I haven’t heard heard from my LO in a week via telephone.. I know the app is suspended.

So, the reason why South Dakota won't work is because on the 8th of March, they suspended all services with no date on its return, they came out with the statement on March 20th, on their website. If you instagram South Dakota department of corrections and click the link they have in their bio, you'll be able to read it.
I'm absolutely frustrated with the entire thing. I haven't been able to talk to my buddy for 18 days now. Which is ridiculous. I do see his green active light on but he can't message either.

The app is still not working. I can see my contact online, but I still can't send messages. I don't think he can either otherwise he would have responded. Just says Account Suspended. Which I know isn't true.
GTL needs to get their stuff together, it's absolutely ridiculous it's been 11 days and still nothing. I've even called them and they play it off like nothing is happening. I've read a lot of comments about South Dakota, where my contact is from, so I'm really hoping that it's up soon and we're able to message each other.
We pay money to talk to our friends and loved ones and the app half the time doesn't even work properly.

I haven't been able to send messages for three days. I click on my only contact, says account suspended messaging not available, I get that the systems are down, I even called the prison to see why it says account suspended, they couldn't answer why. Is that normal for it to say that when the app is down? It's absolutely frustrating when we've been talking for weeks and all of a sudden I can't message. Just got off with customer service, they are performing an update that apparently has taken 7 hours so far with no projected time of the fix. Additionally, if you want to receive video calls from your inmate, the app must be open at all times, make it make sense.

On going issues

I tried to contact my love one, and it wasn't working. Been having nothing but issues with the phone side of the app for almost a week. Contacted customer service, they have done nothing. Now the messages aren't working. This is even our anniversary. Both the app and the website are not working. I'm in Colorado.

No one warns you of the emotional toll that it has on the family. Being able to receive and send messages is what I look forward to because it gives me peace knowing my husband is ok. Such a crappy app and they love taking your money and not refunding for denying family pictures, I wish they would have more compassion for our incarcerated loved ones and their families. Please fix and update this app!!

Worst service ever

This ridiculous…this app have been down for way to long. I’m In TN and can’t even talk to my husband because I’m getting a server code. As much much as we spend y’all should have this app working at all times. Then customer service takes forever to answer if they even answer at all…I can’t wait until my husband get out because I will never have to use this app again after August.

Was on hold for 30 minutes with Customer Service.
Told Alejandro I wanted a full refund of my loaded funds.
He told me it would take 2 to 6 weeks to return my money.
I said ok. Then he hung up on me.
Called back and I've been on hold for 19 min.

He said they all knew the site would be down but he wouldn't say why they didn't tell anyone.

I emplore everyone to call and demand a refund. This is pathetic.

Scheduled visit 3 days ago. Site loads, but signing it goes to a "503 Service Unavailable
Atlanta, Georgia. No server is available to handle this request." error. No mention of planned maintenance. F this site. They overcharge, underperform, and my meeting that was scheduled now shows as not there even though I have a screenshot of the receipt. So I'm withdrawing my $120 I have loaded (that the company is earning interest on while they hold my money). I'm done with these worthless idiots. A group of drunk high schoolers could make a better site than this.

I'm on hold with Customer Support to get a refund on my money.

It never works my husband and I have a 1 month old and he can’t even call because y'all are always down, and he can’t even message me. He can’t FaceTime on his table anyway and the only way I can FaceTime him is if I schedule a week or two and pay 5$ a visit. So for this to be happening and I can’t hear his voice or tell him how his baby is doing is ridiculous. We send them money to be able to talk to us and we have to spend money to text them as well. At this point you should make it where they can all FaceTime from their tablets, and/or make the phone calls free, and texting free, or lower the prices, y’all make us pay a tax fee to put money on which is ridiculous as well! I have been very patient with all of this app and hardly being able to talk to him because I think he’s busy or sleeping and that’s why he’s not calling or texting when it turns out to be the apps fault that he hasn’t called or anything when I really need to hear his voice and tell him important things. Just please for the love of god fix this ????????????

Using this App is a punishment to families we don't deserve

No in person visits so we all have to use this App. Or resort to snail mail. It's expensive, it's unreliable, and has the quality of an App written in the 90's and that is generous! With the inexpensive technology we have available today, GTL has absolutely no market except for taking advantage of the suffering of the incarcerated and their families.

Not happy at all, the only reason they won’t fix the issues is because they KNOW we will use it regardless, because it’s the only thing offered to us. They refuse to update anything because it’s cheaper to keep low quality, I just woke up an hour ago, I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, and it keeps throwing an error message, these inmates pay 5 cents a minute to read our messages. I can’t even message my inmate to ask him to call me or anything. Why not give people a better experience? You’ll never stop making money because people will always be in jail for some reason, just update and fix the issues we have, you can’t loose that much money… rich getting rich off the poor, prime example.

There is always something. Can't load contact, can't load profile. I'm never notified when my husband tries video calling, and yes, I'm verified. Takes days to have the message approved. Now his facility only shows the head in a small circle, can't hear anything unless I'm using my headphones. For the price of this, it should work!

The app and website is constantly down. I was in the middle of writing a message to send to my loved one and once I hit submit the 503 error comes on. With all the money being made you'd think that the company would have better servers. Also don't like that you are not able to get a hold of a real person when calling the telephone number for help. It's all automated and there is no option to speak to someone about the issues or how to get help.

Inmate phone app failure

Won't even boot up, with the amount of money they charge in fees for every call or even for 5 cents per minute the inmate charged to READ MESSAGES, they can have better IT & an app that works! So ridiculous & entire system is a monopoly!! Prison system is all about money & keeping the revolving door revolving. No intentions of helping anyone overcome the system or improve & forget keeping contact with support system outside of facilities. By the time you get through fees you charge, you have whopping $5 out of $15 & at your minute rate you barely get a 10 min call, that is NOT okay, how do expect people on limited income to keep in contact? Oh that's right you don't, again keep that revolving door revolving. Mass incarceration is where the money is after all!
