amtrak too lazy or stupod to say they are not taking reservations at this time.

The site would not allow me to make a reservation yet there was no written explanation as to why. I mean they did have a note at the top about Northeast corridor out of service January 9th and 10th, but I'm trying to book a trip for after that date. So why don't they just say" we're not going to take any bookings through our website for further notice?!" Instead of me wasting my time trying to figure out what's wrong with My phone or MY computer?. Additionally when I tried to sign in it would just get a transparent gray screen over the sign in box and never do anything so their website is really screwed up. If they know they have a problem with the website or if they're not taking reservations because of weather issues. They just need to say it plainly. Don't just have a tiny red"Northeast corridor". Nobody knows what that means. You would Amtrak know what that means but someone from out of state or out of the country might not even know what Northeast corridor is much less that there's an important message in that red box. Just saying plain letters we're not taking online bookings right now so we don't feel like idiots trying to make stuff work when it can't. Additionally I think I'm going to make a comment to the national transportation safety board

Unable to purchase tickets. All trains sold out even a year out. Website issue. As underwater financially as Amtrak is (it never turned a profit), there is no way all trains and routes are sold out a year in advance. Impossible.

Spent around three hours trying the website with various results. Most the so-called support personnel at amtrak couldn't find Down if they tripped. After a few hours and many calls, someone actually said "other customers are ALSO having problems". Amazing the other so-called support people had no clue, but clueless = amtrak.

I tried booking all day on Amtrak's website, but at the final step, after entering payment information, it kept giving me an error message and to try again later. Tried various browsers, different computers, and on my phone. Error, error, error... I eventually had success on the app, but the prices were higher than the website for the same train/trip/time, which kind of pisses me off.

f***ing horrible company. Took AutoTrain in May—an absolute disaster—8 hours late, ran out of food and drink, restrooms out of toilet paper. 2 emails later—no response. I decided to give it another shot & redeem 9,000+ points on guest rewards & now I can’t make a reservation. Amtrak 173, scheduled arrival in DC 7:07 pm, was delayed outside of Baltimore until about 2:30 am today and it's so unremarkable that there's no news. An airline would issue free vouchers for a delay like that. Amtrak? Not even an announcement.
