Cannot invite friend, friend cannot invite me.

How come every update keeps certain features from working now. No friend invite is possible ...at all. Don't you think notification of platform roll out could keep us in the loop? I love the up to 4 players, but it is useless as I can't invite, and my best friend can't invite now. We have been playing almost daily for years now. Notify us of what is going on with the platform roll out please.
